Call for Postdoctoral Researchers

Japanese version

  1. Postdoctoral Research Position in Ultrafast Surface Plasmon Polariton Physics
  2. Postdoctoral Research Position in Ultrafast Phonon Physics or Acoustics
  3. Postdoctoral Research Position in Photoacoustic and Photothermal Phenomena
  4. Postdoctoral Research Position in Acoustics or Scanning Probe Microscopy

Scientists with a background in one of the following, photonics, physical acoustics, solid state physics or scanning probe microscopy (particularly AFM), are invited to apply to join us in the investigation of the following subjects:

Candidates should be able to demonstrate a high level of achievement in their research field.

We offer work in an international atmosphere with up-to-date equipment in a renowned national university in Japan. Hokkaido University is located in Sapporo (population 1.7 million), the largest city on the northernmost island of the Japanese archipelago.

Financial support from our side is available in the first instance for a time to be agreed between the two parties. To reduce the load on our budget we encourage our postdoctoral researchers also to apply for one to two year fellowships from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). This is also possible through a representative academic society in the applicant's home country.* (See //www.jsps.go.jp/english/index.html)

The Applied Solid State Physics Laboratory was founded in the Department of Applied Physics, Faculty of Engineering, Hokkaido University in May 1996. The chosen applicant will work in collaboration with the Professor or the Associate Professor of this laboratory. One postdoctoral researcher from the USA and one from France recently completed research programmes at the laboratory with this scheme.

Candidates should provide a CV and the names and contact information for 2-3 references. For further information please contact
